    Once upon a time

There was a time she thought she had it all figured out,
A time when she had more answers and dreams,
    Than questions and brokenness,
But seasons changed just like the leaves from withered battered trees,
And life became a little more harder to manage,
Death takes lives she cared for deeply and that never left her the same again,
Life pushed and pushed until she back broke and the weight of the world broke caved her knees in,
There was a time she thought she had it all figured out,
    But those times were over,
Now and days she struggled just to find a good enough reason to crawl out of bed,
And even that reason was not enough most days,
Sometimes she needs a little extra hope,
so she snorts white powdered lines to help her cope,
Sometimes she needs a little extra warmth since the coldness of this world has left her frozen,
So she drinks whiskey to thaw out her heart,
She tries and tries tough, I watch her every day and pray
She'll find the courage to survive her tragedies,
But somedays she worries me so much I loose sleep,
Someone has to watch over her because she's in deep,
There was a time she had it all figured out,
A time when she had more strength than fear,
But she's full of vulnerability now,
And everyday life finds a way to break her just a little bit more than yesterday.
