    Not A Word

They sat across each other, not a single word was said
But he could see there was something off, something going on in her head
He asked if she was okay, if there was a problem
She shook her head and smiled, but still looked so solemn
So he got up from his chair, and gave her a hug
Taken aback, she broke down and cried
She was hurt, torn, broken inside
    She didn't want a lecturer
    Not someone to advise her
She just wanted a friend, someone to count on
A friend she could trust, bank her hopes on
Now he went back and sat in his chair
And they ate their dinner, without a word being said there.
