Living in world teeming with numerous fellow humans, we interact. It is for this reason that homo sapiens are termed as social animals. Generally through one's teenage or adulthood, one certainly comes across the widely adorned statement - "Living in the moment".
It is probable that you come across this sentence during a friendly banter with a comrade or a solemn talk with parents. Despite stumbling upon this statement often, most of us do not understand its underlying meaning and tend to apply its superficial sense to our life or to a certain situation that we face.
Let me throw light upon what these underlying and superficial meanings are - The superficial sense of this statement refers to caring the least bit about future consequences or past conquests, while adamantly focussing on the moment that occurs at a particular point of time. This meaning does not stress on present but on the moment. Besides, it also supports any impulsive decision that one takes in the heat of the moment. On the contrary, the deep-seated meaning revolves around taking sane decisions which are thought through. This sense focuses more on present compared to the moment while the major aim is to avoid unwanted, trashy feelings and situations of the past. Having applied both these meanings to life, one realises that this clichéd sentence is capable of wonders. In the event of being applied with apt correctness, it not only provides a guiding light to the alley of life, but also heals the wounds that one's past leaves on one's soul.
"Only if I had not been that way at that moment!", is the thought that crosses all our minds atleast once in this short span of life. It is a piece of cake for humans to commit mistakes, for that is how we learn. However, some follies lead to a lifetime of dilemma and regret. There are times when it isn't either dilemma or regret, but a mere feeling of repent.
It takes a few moments to ruin or reconstruct your current situation in life. Being a believer, I strongly affirm to the idea that whatever happens, occurs for the great of all. Despite such beliefs, as humans we tend to be more pessimistic than optimistic. There are moments in life when nothing appears or sounds right. These are nothing but the phases of darkness in life. Everybody faces and gets through them gradually. However, the basic question is HOW? It is now that the basic concept of repentance gradually takes up a seat in our rollercoaster - life. During rough phases of life, we often interrogate ourselves - Why is this happening to me? Do I deserve to face this?
During such moments, do not try to answer these, rather, make peace with it. Acceptance will work as a potion of positivity to your miseries. Admit the fact that you're facing a repercussion of your past actions. It isn't necessary for you to accept it before a bunch of people. Repentance and acceptance work best in seclusion.
At length, believe that a bright ray of light will soon burst through these grey clouds of woefulness and kiss your soul back to life and peace. Do realise that you're sent for a specific task and that task is definitely not to continue facing failures, sorrows or instability. You have been created for a greater cause and this is just a comparatively darker road to your eternal journey. Grab your moment of peace!
