You become what you consume.
You let out what you let in,
You let in what you'll let out.
A consumption of garbage,
An excretion of garbage.
You should be conscious of your intake,
For it feeds your subconscious
And your subconscious drives your conscious,
Your conscious deciding your actions,
Your actions determining your life.
A subtle cycle, a mental law.
You become what you consume,
Consume wisely.

Watching as the relationships built overtime sever and sour,
I sit in silence and experience a myriad feelings.
Indifference to the ties akin to sand, blown by the wind.
Sadness to the connections I felt to be genuine, snapping like dry twigs.
Pain to the bonds I know to be worth its weight in gold, now drifting away.
I knew this would happen, I expected it;
But it's quite different expecting something and then experiencing it.
All for a reality many will call crazy.

The last night, my last death.
I come before the constellations
Draped in gore and sweat.
No tremors, no emotions;
Only my body with its cold blood,
For I murdered the warmth
Her smile agitated in the remnant of my heart.

WhatsApp has lost its glitter,
With it's blue ticks and green circles
Now seemingly bland and lackluster.
From friends, relationships and cordials
To familiar faces and digital strangers.

Getting older I've realized that age and dreams are inversely proportional. The older the person the lesser they dream. It's considered growing up to give up on dreams. To give up on leaving a mark in history. To give up on so many things. But isn't that what makes life bland? Dream. Challenge yourself and chase them. You will be happy doing what you love and even happier achieving milestones. Dream. For it will add flavor to this bland reality.

I don't open up to anyone these days,
Only God knows how long it'll take
Till we stop talking and start ghosting,
Leaving me with a digital stranger
Who knows my secrets.

Like a magnet she was so enthralling and attractive,
But as a scrap metal I had lost all properties to be drawn to her.

I watched the rise and fall of a fire from my balcony and couldn't help conversing with myself,
'What do you think about the existence of this fire?'
'A threat to the lives of others'
'Do you know that there are humans that are considered a threat from the moment they are born? The growth of that child equates the decline of others. Not that anybody wanted it to be so but the strings of fate just tied their lives to each other. Like a tug of war the stronger live thrives and the weaker one dies. Survival of the fittest. Now here comes the question of morality: Apart from God who decides who is right or wrong? Was the child wrong for being born into this world? Or perhaps the family and environment the evil factor? Who gets to live and who gets to die? Should the child be exterminated as the threat he is conceived to be? Or should the others sit still and wither as he grows? Who gets to decide?
Questions, questions, questions.'

Mirror mirror on the wall
Have you seen her lost smile?
I've seen only her tears' fall
and nothing else in a while
Mirror mirror on the wall
Why memories hurt so much?
I don't want my past to recall
Because it has a sore touch
Mirror mirror on the wall
Can you hear her silent screams?
She is crying in a crowded hall
For people killed all her dreams
Mirror mirror on the wall
How to unhurt the feelings?
Nobody cares for her at all
And blame for useless things

The thing with growing up is, you begin to realise... you aren't special. You aren't going to rattle authorities and topple governments one day. You aren't going to invent something amazing or discover something magnificent. You aren't going to change lives of millions or set a new path for generations to follow. It's realizing that most of your time is going to be spent on chairs... in offices and restaurants and roadside stalls... discussing those who make a difference. It's realising that you will not be spending your life travelling the globe. A week long annual family vacation is all you can afford... financially and with respect to time. It's realising that the spike in price of onions and flour will bother you more than the fall in price of a luxury car. Growing up is seeing the magic fade before your eyes. It is witnessing the fall of a dream... bit by bit. It is silently accepting defeat... just to retain peace. Growing up is being tired. Growing up... is looking forward to the end... of everything.

I chase perfection.
Because that's the only way I feel
worthy enough,
to be loved.

Everyone has been strong for too long.
The world desperately needs people
who are willing to be, and let others be...
weak.

Some people are so wounded...
they end up destroying the very thing
that attempted to help them heal.

People cling to escapes. Some find it in a person, some find it in a bottle of whiskey, some in the smoke of cigarettes. Meaningless banter, politics and weather, or the latest celebrity gossip. This constant desire to be busy, as if pausing for a while would be lethal. The mere thought of stillness fills some people with nerve wrecking anxiety. And they go about pouring one day into another and another... until there are no more days left.

I over think. Because there's no one coming to rescue me if I stumble. I think of all the possibilities, even the ones that possibly would never exist in this reality. And yes, that leaves me frozen, stuck... I keep losing opportunities. But everyone has a favorite wound, and mine, happens to be... holding myself back. Because the most powerful message I've imbibed is... to be safe than sorry.

You have to feel sad and cry and be alone for a while. Turn the lights off and sit and remember everything that ever hurt you, every mistake of yours. You've to feel that pain in your chest, that pit in your gut. Be crushed under guilt and suffocate in the smoke of all those burnt years. You've to stand face to face with your entire truth... the good, bad and ugly. There is no short cut to it. There's filth that you've been pushing under the rug for years. And now, it's time for a clean up. Take your time, you don't have to do it all at once. But be determined, because suppressing, evading, trying to rationalize will only delay it further. Sit with that discomfort... Until it has run it's course, and peacefully dies down on its own.

We love being told what to do. And we love being forced to do it. We love feeling helpless and trapped and like a victim of circumstances we're born in. It's a soothing feeling... to not be held accountable for anything. To be in the passenger seat, in the journey of life. Because being driver means, owning up the responsibility for all that happens or has happened, since the beginning of time.

The easiest thing is to find yourself. It's easy. It really is. But it's painful. All you have to do is, drop everything that you are not. Stop doing, saying, seeing things that you're not. No matter how many layers of clothing you've been wearing. All it takes is, removing those layers, to see the real color of your skin.
But it seems difficult. It becomes difficult. We make it difficult. Because those clothes are warm. And the world is cold. No matter how heavy they feel, we cling to their warmth.
